Between The Worlds. An Exhibition with the painter Gesa Emde
Between The Worlds. At the moment the photograph was taken, the perfect composition was probably less important in the 1995 photograph of the refugee camp Magara in Burundi, taken after the genoside in Rwanda - but many years later it releases emotions of empathy and consternation regarding the suffering back then, precisely because of this perfect composition. Gesa Emde, the painter, experiences this dichotomy as well. She has to reconcile the effects of the daily news of the outside world with the reality of her life in the country, creating expressive paintings filled with emotions. Opening Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 3 pm.
