fig-2 is curated by Fatoş Üstek. Jessica Temple and Ben Wadler are assistant curators, and Irene Altaió is project assistant.

fig-2 presents 50 projects over 50 weeks in the ICA Studio, in association with Outset.

Fatoş Üstek, Art Fund Curator at fig-2, explains that: 'fig-2's format utilises change as a constant. fig-2's structure of fifty successive exhibitions realised on a weekly basis operates as a catalyst to manifest the aesthetic and critical currency of our times. fig-2 will cultivate uncertainty and conscious incompleteness through each and every project that is driven by the radical imagination of artists, writers, dancers, architects, and designers'.

fig-2 is a revival of fig-1, which presented 50 exhibitions in 50 weeks. fig-1 was conceived and developed by Mark Francis and Jay Jopling in 2000. Run from an independent space, fig-1 situated itself between museum, gallery and artist's studio, maintaining freedom from institutional and commercial obligations. Bold and experimental by nature, the year was programmed only a few weeks ahead, so as to remain flexible and responsive, including projects by Jeremy Deller, Richard Hamilton, Runa Islam, Oliver Payne + Nick Relph, Will Self, Patti Smith, Caruso St. John, Philip Treacy, among others.

Fifteen years later, fig-2 brings together a program of established and emerging practitioners of visual and performing arts, as well as positions from contemporary architecture, design, fashion and literature.

Art Fund Curator Talks
Art Fund will be organising Curator talks at fig-2. Dates and details to be announced on a rolling basis throughout the year.

fig-2 at Bicester Village
Four fig-2 artists will be commissioned for a new body of work at Bicester Village throughout the year. Project details to be announced on a rolling basis throughout the year.

Please join us for fig-2 openings every Monday throughout 2015. As the ICA is closed on Mondays, to reach the Studio please use the ramp entrance to the Studio from Carlton House Terrace, at the top of the Duke of York Steps.

opens every Monday, 6–8pm, and continues from Tuesday–Sunday 11am–6pm. fig-2 is open late on Thursdays until 9pm to coincide with the ICA late openings.
