Martinez, Current Watercolors, inspired by his
current trip to Oaxaca, Mexico. On a late afternoon an ominous sky, before
his epiphany, he was seized by an immense fear of dying. He saw himself dead
on the side of the rural road. He was walking toward the ruins of Yagul.
His imagination created a fable of the ancient warriors of Yagul. They will
come to protect their territory from any outsiders.
The road became heavy
on his feet. The plants and the wind were having conversations of whispers
and murmurs. The hillside rocks started to take on shapes of warriors'
heads, ornate with trees and small shrubs.
The cumulus clouds were wildly
dancing around the sun. Strange animal screams filled the empty air.
Martinez willingly put his fear aside and proceeded to indulge all that was
mystical. Martinez had entered the portal to the past; he has not been the
same since.
