Retrospective. He has constantly explored the ritual function of objects, practices and places from the rural universe, on the one hand, and the invocatory, designatory function of drawing, on the other.

The first retrospective dedicated to Alexandru Chira – opens a program of monographic exhibitions through which MNAC aims to study and reconsider a series of Romanian contemporary artists who are relevant for a complete and coherent image of the historical, cultural and artistic context of the last five decades.
The conceptual symbolism practiced by Alexandru Chira is unique among the Romanian conceptualisms. From his earliest works until the great land art project from his birthplace in Tăuşeni he has constantly explored the ritual function of objects, practices and places from the rural universe, on the one hand, and the invocatory, designatory function of drawing, a medium which shapes reality rather than describes it, on the other.
