Poster Triennial 2000

Is the fourth year of the international poster exhibition and competition which becomes to be very popular among graphic designers and it belongs to the most important exhibitions of posters in the world. The triennial has no particular topic, posters of all kinds are exhibited there: cultural, commercial, political, the only condition is the high artistic level of all works. This year gallery received almost 1800 posters for the competition.
Is the fourth year of the international poster exhibition and competition which becomes to be very popular among graphic designers and it belongs to the most important exhibitions of posters in the world. The triennial has no particular topic, posters of all kinds are exhibited there: cultural, commercial, political, the only condition is the high artistic level of all works. This year gallery received almost 1800 posters for the competition. The Pre-Selection Jury choose 1288 posters by 378 authors from 42 countries. In category A (professional graphic designers) there will be exhibited 1028 posters by 282 authors, in category B (students of fine art academies) 260 posters by 96 authors in the exhibition. Exhibited posters are almost from all countries of Europe, then, for instance, from USA, Australia, China, Zimbabwe and there is a big collection from Japan.
Part of the triennial is awarding of prizes awarded by the International Jury. Prizes will be awarded in two categories: in category A - Grand Prix, 1st Prize, 2nd Prize, 3rd Prize and in category B - 1st Prize, 2nd Prize, 3rd Prize and the Special Prize of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. The following are the Special Awards (no categories): ICOGRADA Award, the Slovak Design Centre Award, the Trnava Mayor's Award.
Awarding of the ICOGRADA Award will be special for this year triennial - the recipient will be chosen by Vice-President of ICOGRADA graphic designer Sanja Rocco from Croatia.
The Organizing Committee has chosen 5 laureats of the prize Master's Eye Award. They are outstanding personalities of graphic design - Tapani Aartomaa from Finland, Paul Brühwiler from Switzerland, Jaroslav Sura from Czech Republic, Mieczyslaw Górowski from Poland and Stanislav Stankoci from Slovakia who will be members of the International Jury.
Accompanying events will be the workshop for students of graphic design from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland and Slovenia Poster Today - Poster Environment organised by the association POSTER and the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (27 September - 30 September) and poster action Plane - "wall of posters" on the town square in Trnava.
Results of the competition will be announced during the press conference on 28 September at 3.00 p. m. in the Trnava Theatre or in the web page www.gjk.sk

The event is held under the auspices of Minister of Culture of the Slovak Republic and it is endorsed by ICOGRADA (International Council of Graphic Design Associations). The event is financially supported by the State Culture Fond PRO SLOVAKIA.
