This exhibition brings together the work of three very different painters; Cassie Howard, Gregor Berenger & Eithne Jordan.
Cassie Howard’s paintings explore relationships between inanimate objects and our connection with them. The paintings depict, in meticulous detail, chairs from different periods, from the historical to the contemporary. The spatial composition of the chairs suggests a conversation or dialogue that directly connects with the viewer.
Gregor Berenger creates abstracted works which fall between paintings and wall sculpture, he is interested in showing the contrast between the base and the painted surface; while the base may look bulky and heavy, the painted surface seems light, painted with careful precision.
Eithne Jordan 's work depicts industrial zones and urban environments; melancholy spaces inhabited only by objects or machines arise directly out of the earlier still life paintings.
