George Stern Fine Arts is proud to announce and a joint exhibition of works by contemporary artists Barbara Beretich and Shirley Pettibone. The exhibition will highlight figurative bronze sculptures by Beretich, and watercolor and oil paintings by Pettibone.

George Stern Fine Arts is proud to announce and a joint exhibition of works
by contemporary artists Barbara Beretich and Shirley Pettibone. The
exhibition will highlight figurative bronze sculptures by Beretich, and
watercolor and oil paintings by Pettibone.
Barbara Beretich was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 25, 1936. Her
family moved several times around the United States during her childhood.
She resided in Ohio, Illinois and California. In 1958 she graduated from
the University of Illinois, majoring in art. While traveling in Europe in
1960 she formed an association with the French artist Francois Gilot. She
attended the Claremont Graduate University from 1962-65 where she received
an M.F.A. degree (sculpture major). In 1968-69 Beretich lived in Paris,
studying painting and sculpture independently. Since 1973 Beretich has been
the sole proprietor of Galleria Beretich in Claremont, California.
Shirley Pettibone was born in 1936 in Bakersfield, CA. She received her BA
from Principia College in Illinois in 1957 and later graduated from the Otis
Art Institute of Los Angeles in 1962. She received an NEA grant in 1976.
Pettibone has been exhibited nationally. Her current paintings will include
meticulous studies of flowers, water patterns and Koi fish intricately
entwined in their ponds.
