An exhibition exploring our relationships to historical moments. Works by an international group of contemporary artists examine the mechanisms by which we reconstruct events and people through different lenses, from nostalgia to tourism, aesthetics, media culture and consumerism. The exhibition exposes the slippages between fact and fiction, and the ways in which contemporary culture and our own subjectivity mediate our experiences of memory and history.
This autumn Kettle's Yard will be presenting Rear View Mirror, an exhibition exploring our relationships to historical moments.
The exhibition will include paintings alongside photographic, film and video works. Rear View Mirror will include the UK premiere of a new work by Joachim Koester (Denmark), and works by Vesna Pavlovic (Serbia), Omer Fast (Israel), Nina Fischer and Maroan el Sani (Germany), Elisabeth Subrin (US), Delia Brown (US), and Sam Durant (US), which have not been seen in the UK before. Also included will be work by Mark Lewis (Canada) and Mark Titchner (UK).
The exhibition is devised and selected by Elizabeth Fisher, Exhibitions Organiser at Kettle's Yard.
