Richmond, VA— artspace, is pleased to announce its exhibitions for the month of October. Artspace will feature artists Matthew Lively, Andrew Campbell, Bridget Camden. The exhibits open Friday, October 1st.
Sculptor, Andrew Campbell is exhibiting his most recent work, Suspended Disbelief, in the Helena Davis Gallery. This ethereal sculptural installation gravitates between organic and geometric, between mass and weightlessness, resulting in a wondrous conflict of opposing forces and concepts illustrated in steel. Campbell is a member of Artspace. His work has been shown throughout Richmond and Washington, DC.
Featured in the Main Gallery is Richmond multi-media artist Matthew Lively's visual adaptation of his own unpublished children's book, The Fable of the Transatlantic Tube Train. Lively's work has been exhibited widely in the United States, Canada, and Europe. The exhibit will include enormous paintings, cut-out wall hangings and a suspended sculpture depicting the key scenes from the book. Opening night will include the quick-handed D.J. work of Josh Joplin whose talents have been seen on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, and Late Night with Conan O'Brian. Lively is a member and past-chairperson of Exhibitions at Artspace.
Exhibiting in the Foyer Gallery is local artist, Bridget Camden. Her work, Lil Man, is an exhibition of her recent collage works. Camden is an M.F.A. graduate of The School of The Art Institute of Chicago.
Artspace is a non-profit art gallery dedicated to the understanding and awareness of contemporary visual and performing arts. Founded in 1988, Artspace is a member-run organization.
The First Friday Opening Reception is from 8-10:30 pm, October 1st, 2004. The gallery will also be open on the Fourth Friday, October 22nd from 7-9 pm. All exhibits will close Sunday, October 31, 2004. Artspace is open Wednesday through Sunday, from 12 to 4 pm and by appointment. artspace is located at Zero East 4th Street within Plant Zero, in the recently designated Arts District in Manchester, Richmond VA.
