F2 Form: Two Visions  Black and White Photography
Ron May has been an active artist for over 30 years. Early interest in
photography began with photography as shown in US Camera annuals and Life
magazine. He later began making his own photos influenced by Edward Weston
and other artists exhibited at The Friends of Photography in Carmel. Formal
study has included workshops with Wynn Bullock in Monterey, California.
Like several other photographers, Ron has a strong connection with music. He
studied classical guitar at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and was
a member of the famous 1968 Segovia Master Class in Santiago, Spain. He has
a B.A. from the University of Michigan.
Ron has had one-man shows in San Francisco, Palo Alto and throughout the
Midwest. The artist splits his time between San Francisco and Northern
Indiana.
Ron May’s archival processed silver gelatin prints are available in limited
editions.
Joseph Puhy’s risk taking photography gives us images that stir the
imagination and soul. His photos allow us to selfishly indulge in savoring
what has happened, be it appropriate, beautiful, ugly, indiscreet, shameful
or wonderful.
Born in France and rooted in Michigan, Joseph decided to head west for his
education, landing at Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California. Here,
the mastering of photography’s technical aspects provided the comfort needed
to explore any subject with ease and also bolstered his attention to detail.
By traveling and seeking out experiences, he discovered “the universal
expressions in the strangers’ faces and eyes.†Also, by not ever limiting
himself to one genre of photography, Joseph is always ready to “see."
Selected works from the TarFest 2004 Group Show, juried by Peter Frank and Holly Myers, remain in the south gallery through December 22, 2004.
