...)the need for a getaway that can’t be fulfilled in everyday's reality, inspires fantastic, fablistic imagination. In visual arts, this mix of dark and fantastic aesthetics is developing into a truly interesting, sophisticated and rich phenomenon. The Fantasy universe, dominated by Tolkien's standards (which eventually go back to Wagner's "Ring Cycle", norse and teutonic mythology) seems to be a more credited starting point than any history book or museum department for many artists (...).
