An exhibition which presents and analyses the fantastic images of Venice created by Canaletto (1697-1768). Until recently, the figure of Canaletto was pigeonholed by a very limited, historically false idea of him as the "photographer-painter", of the mechanical reproducer of the reality around him. The works of Canaletto crystallise Venice and the Venetians in a static truth, immune to decline or deterioration, destined to last eternally.

The works of Canaletto crystallise Venice and the Venetians in a static truth, immune to decline or deterioration, destined to last eternally. The exposition includes a magnificent selection of original works by this painter, on loan from museums around the world as well as works by other vedutisti of the period such as Francesco Guradi, with documents to complement them.
