comunicato stampa

London Art Fair is the UK’s most established Art Fair representing the best of Contemporary and Modern British art. In 2005 it runs from 19 – 23 January at the Business Design Centre, Islington, London N1.

Since its inception seventeen years ago, the London Art Fair has been providing an unrivalled platform for UK galleries to exhibit the work of leading artists, generating annual sales of around twelve million pounds. The fair draws together a hundred exhibitors from all over the UK representing quality artwork in all media. Exhibitors are vetted by an independent panel to ensure work on display is appropriate to the fair. The 2005 committee are: John Austin (Austin/Desmond), Richard Ingleby (Ingleby Gallery), Dominic Jones (Managing Director, Business Design Centre), Lucy McNeill (Director, London Art Fair), Sarah Myerscough (Sarah Myerscough Fine Art), Jasmin Pelham (Brower Lewis Pelham PR), Paul Stolper (Paul Stolper Gallery) and Rosanna Wilson Stephens (Wilson Stephens Fine Art).

For any visitor to the fair, it is an excellent opportunity to see and buy a huge variety of work ranging from Modern British masterworks by artists such as Elizabeth Frink, Ben Nicholson, John Piper, Mary Fedden, to emerging contemporary artists such as Michael Ajerman, Emily Allchurch and Veronica Bailey. Prices for work on display range from £100 to £500,000.

New for 2005 is Art Projects, which offers galleries the opportunity to show the work of one artist or artists’ project in a dedicated area of the fair, enabling artists to make individual statements in any media. This exciting new platform at the London Art Fair goes beyond the traditional format of an art fair stand, offering prospective collectors the opportunity to broaden their experience at the fair and give artists the scope to explore a single idea or theme in a unique context.

“London Art Fair continues to go from strength to strength reflecting the buoyant market for Modern British and Contemporary Art in the UK. With new additions to the fair planned for 2005, we continue to work with galleries to draw new buyers to the fair as well as providing an unrivalled opportunity for established collectors to find work of great quality and enduring value”.
