Wide Open Beavers Inside

Wide Open Beavers Inside is an installation in 3 parts:
2 parts visual to 1 part auditory.
1 part documentary of a fictional event to 2 parts fictitious actual events.
2 parts begging for activity to 1 part content with passivity.
The main, and title piece of the show is a large scale 2D image, that has been fragmented into twelve pieces. The second piece is an interactive slideshow that combines with the main image and forces the viewer to think twice. This combination creates an all together different representation of the main piece, while both parts are still performing as individual works. The third and final piece de-constructs the idea of voyeur/participant from a reflective, slightly removed perspective. The why and how these three separate yet coextensive works affect the viewer and are in turn affected by the viewer is where things get really interesting.

Examining the idea of acceptable or accidental voyeurism.
In a time where sex sells everything and is everywhere, are we trivialising it to the point where nothing is shocking? Are we striving to become conditioned to everything? In a world where you can't avoid external stimulus at what point do we stop becoming the consumer/voyeur and automatically start to become the active/interactive participant? The themes and ideas in this show seek to address these questions by asking it's audience to decide between being a participant or a voyeur and respecting, not judging them, on their choice.

This is the first time Tsering Frykman-Glen and Andrew Peel have collaborated together and it has been an experimental, fun and over all rewarding experience for them both.
Although this is Tsering Frykman-Glen's first show in Sydney, she has exhibited extensively over the last 3 years including shows in London, Milan, Berlin, New York and currently has 2 works being shown as part of the International Video Festival in Detroit's MONA gallery. This is Andrew Peel's first public exhibition, however, his transition into art has developed from working as a designer, creative and web developer for several advertising and design studios in Sydney's Surry Hills area.
