Principia Mundi
Andréhn-Schiptjenko has the pleasure of presenting a new solo
exhibition by Olle Borg. In a series of six oil and enamel paintings on
canvas, Olle Borg deals with the human need to find a meaning in life
through an instinctive way of always seeking for codes and patterns in
our environment.
In his Å“uvre, Olle Borg has always been interested in the relationship
between chaos and order. In chaos the mere chance is prevalent and
there is no visible consistency - meaning comes with order.
These new paintings are based on a series of the numbers 3, 4 and 5 in
different mathematical formulas. From these numbers, images are
created, images that challenge the viewer’s instinct to find a
consistency in the symbols and patterns. In these new works the colours
have been given a narrative role, they are reconstructions from Borg’s
own memory of colours of different objects.
Olle Borg was born in Stockholm in 1960 and educated at the The Royal
Academy of Fine Arts. He is represented at a majority of the most
important art institutions in Sweden, among them Moderna Museet,
Göteborgs Konstmuseum and Borås Konstmuseum. He lives and works in
Stockholm.
