1/60 insurgent space

Henrik Andersson: Drinking Swedish water in Albania, sound performance - Soundcheck, sound installation. Artist's sound art has raised an increased interest both in Sweden and abroad. For this project he intends to make 'meeting with the other' audible, by drinking Swedish water brought to Albania. In the same space, he will present a sound installation inspired by - and referring to – the simple techniques of a sound check (such as blowing in the microphone.
1/60 insurgent space is the name of a space that move itself continuously inside the cities, producing exhibitions whose intent is to put to comparison international artists with various places, different from the "institutional ones", in order to create new arguments around the art and its borders. This is the fourth of a series of nine exhibitions programmed in Tirana, from January until September, curated every month by Stefano Romano and a different curator each time.

Henrik Andersson’s sound art has raised an increased interest both in Sweden and abroad. The artist was recently offered a production in residency at The Baltic Art Center (Sweden), where he made a sound installation by resetting the church bells of a local Cathedral. He is currently exhibiting “if it isn’t love then it is the bomb that will bring us together†in Pristina, a work in which vibrations registered in Canada and caused by a nuclear explosion in Pakistan, have been transformed into audible sound. Within the framework of “1/60 Insurgent spaces†Andersson would like to invite you to the lecture hall of the Tirana Art Academy. Here he intends to make a “meeting with the other†audible, by drinking Swedish water brought to Albania. In the same space, Andersson will present a sound installation inspired by - and referring to – the simple techniques of a sound check (such as blowing in the microphone), believing that such acts cannot merely be viewed as technical necessities but are also moments of accentuated power.
Henrik Andersson, born 1973 in Gothenburg, is currently living and working in Stockholm, Sweden.
Also in the May edition of “1/60 insurgent spaceâ€: Henrik Eriksson, also living and working in Sweden, is currently working on a new and site specific work concerning architecture and city planning in Tirana. This work will be presented within the framework of “1/60 insurgent space†at the end of May, date and time will be announced within short.
