A Portrait and Figurative Show. Celebrating the life of Marilyn Monroe, ten artists offer enticing perspectives on the beloved icon's life.
A Portrait and Figurative Show. Group show
Celebrating the life of Marilyn Monroe, June 1, 1926 - August 5, 1962,
artists Matt Aston, Mike Sajio and Hildegarde Duane offer enticing
perspectives on the beloved icon's life. Matt Aston has long used Marilyn's
image in his work based on the power of myth. Mike Sajio combines
photographic images with actual book text creating layer after layer of
feeling and meaning. A photo narrative by Hildegarde Duane depicting
landmarks of Marilyn's life since birth is shown in poster and book form.
Ellen Lane's assemblage elevates Marilyn to Madonna status. Kai
Samuels-Davis' portraits show skill and soul beyond his years. Cary
Meshul's imaginative work; abstract mandalaesque acrylics, will also be a
part of upcoming shows, a landscape show in August and again in October when
his larger scale works will be featured. Western and eastern influences
blend and merge in his bold portraits with humorous undertones. Rodney
Cinkin is a meticulous artist who begins his process with small scale,
finely crafted collage to later translate into large scale paintings. Rodney
will also be featured in the October show. Randall Harrington creates
wonderful bronze figures with a metaphoric edge. Chati Coronel and Rosalyn
Wiley round out the show with explorations of human expression and form with
originality, beauty and intrigue.
