A journey trough the mind

In the words of Maurice Baring, ‘memory is the greatest of artists, and effaces from your mind what is unnecessary’. This captures the essence of what we as the organisers and artists participating in [in]visible aim to achieve: a concise exploration of the meaning of memory and consciousness. Taking in the exceptional ambience of our venue, The Crypt St. Pancras Church, we take you on a journey through the mind, physically through this labyrinthine space, and emotionally, re-connecting your personal response to our theme and the questions we raise.

A showcase of experimental vitality, Silvia Battista, Roberto Bortolotti, Enver Gürsev, Marion Herlet, Mahmut Kunter and Angelo Madonna, are unafraid in their confrontation of space. They explore how the mind works, the relationship between the mind and the physical body, sanity versus insanity researching the process of how we remember things. Each reaches their destination, not to arrive at a pre-determined answer, but to encapsulate the seemingly endlessness of possibility that their individual questioning opens up.

Perhaps, memory is only a dream. Consciousness is sometimes perceived as a reality. Both are a means of experiencing our everyday lives. They are a methodology in making sense of our environment or society, separating out the real from the unreal, the false from the fake. Sometimes a pleasure trip, sometimes a passage through nightmare, nothing should be assumed or taken for granted. This is the distillation of [in]visible – a journey through the mind: the response to the hidden, the unseen or the unheard. It is the chance to question and to discover its real meaning and consequence. Enjoy the journey!
