Solo show
The Galerie Andreas Huber is presenting new work from the Austrian
artist Carola Dertnig for its opening show.
Here, in a piece already begun for the show "Equivok“ at the Vienna
Secession in 2004, Dertnig carries her reflections on Actionism further.
Basing her investigations on the figure of Lora Sana (62, Actionist,
producer of organic cosmetics), Dertnig scrutinizes gender roles and
identities for fictitious documentation, memory and historiography.
The various sources and materials used have been partly left unchanged,
partly paraphrased and supplemented. Conceived as photographs, the
pieces become an actionistic document enhanced with new content.
The show not only revolves around the heterosexual aspect of the
Actionists, but also inquires into the prevailing power structures of
language and society.
