Group exhibition: Cynthia Daignault, Gregory Jacobsen, Jessica Labatte, Andy Messerschmidt, Shiri Mordechay. Reflected in the title, each of the artists is new to the gallery's programming.
Plane Space is delighted to present a group exhibition to conclude the gallery's third season. The exhibition will be on display from June 23rd through July 31st. An opening reception will be held on Thursday evening, June 23rd, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Comprised of five artists, the exhibition includes works by:
Cynthia Daignault
Gregory Jacobsen
Jessica Labatte
Andy Messerschmidt
Shiri Mordechay
Reflected in the exhibition's title, each of the artists is new to the gallery's programming since December and will be presenting new works created since their respective showings earlier in the season. Cynthia Daignault's large oil paintings present an element of whimsy coupled with an eerie feeling of isolation. Gregory Jacobsen makes his Plane Space debut with his lusciously repulsive surrealist acrylics in this group exhibition. Using personal memories and cultural histories, Jessica Labatte playfully photographs ephemeral objects fashioned from common materials of the home. Continuing his ongoing series of 10 x 10 inch oil and collage pieces on paper, Andy Messerschmidt demonstrates his playful versatility in depicting landscape. Shiri Mordechay, in her latest works on paper departs from the patchwork element of her last series, while still maintaining the large scale. She continues to balance her work between raw beauty and enticement and the unease that the sexually and emotionally graphic images incite.
Opening Reception: Wednesday, June 29, 6-8 p.m.
