A group show by eight women artists exploring themes of identity, body and women’s role
The exhibition features ground-breaking works in the feminist movement such
as Carolee Schneemann’s "Fresh Blood - A Dream Morphology", Mary Beth Edelson’s
“Last Supper†which was exhibited at the Tate Modern, Ana Mendieta’s video series
and Judy Chicago’s works from the Power Play series. The exhibition also features
multimedia and installation artists Federica Marangoni, Monika Weiss, Marcia
Grostein and Sara Modiano.
Carolee Schneemann, multidisciplinary artist has transformed the definition of art,
especially discourse on the body, sexuality, and gender.
Works by Mary Beth Edelson have been destabilizing preexisting representations of
women while imagining them anew.
Ana Mendieta, one of the most influential "body artists" of her time, used her
actual body as the artistic medium to create a link between humanity and nature.
Judy Chicago’s commitment to the power of art as a vehicle for intellectual
transformation and social change brought a critical feminist gaze to the gender
construct of masculinity.
Federica Marangoni, an artist who represents the ephemeral and relative nature of
things, will exhibit work that is an expression of the feminine condition.
Multidisciplinary artist, Monika Weiss, creates environments that relate to the body
and to the space it inhabits between biology and culture.
Photographs by Marcia Grostein are digitally manipulated to explore the relationship
between feminine form, poetry and color.
Sara Modiano will exhibit works that focus on the essence of intimacy and confirm
that life is a tension between agony and ecstasy.
