57 underground, a contemporary art gallery in Pomona, presents "3 VISIONS',
an exhibit of ceramic sculpture by Desiree Engel, works in glass by Russ
Huff, and mixed media works by Jamie M. Lee.
Desiree Engel, a versatile artist who has worked in various media, presents
hand built ceramic objects reminiscent of ancient vessels, as well as
mysterious creatures from nature.
The work of Russ Huff in this show represents a transitional period. His
earlier works are of a more personal nature. These works deal with the
artist's interest in how people interact and their philosophies. The
current work takes a minimalist approach to sculpture, dealing with movement
and tension.
Jamie Lee's mixed media wall pieces create an emotional language that
provide a memory of her experience. She includes such three-dimensional
collage elements as thread, fabric, various gel mediums, and others.
Collage has sparked her interest in using different materials, giving her
greater freedom of expression in her paintings.
