First Triennial for Contemporary Art, Fashion and Design

With the old prison functioning as central location, exhibitions in the main art centres and the so-called "Catwalks" or routes throughout Hasselt, Super! is a real city project. Furthermore, there are links to other cities in the Euregion through collaborations with the Academy of Fine Arts and the Jan Van Eyck Academy in Maastricht as well as the Ludwig Forum in Aachen.

Super! focuses on the cross-over between contemporary art, fashion - design.

The old prison, a weird example of panoptical architecture, is the central location with a ticket shop, an Illy Coffee Lounge, workshops, an exhibition and the opening party.

The secret aura which surrounds alchemy, which brings together and mixes opposites, is the basis of a project that winds its way throughout the museum.

Selected artists:
Koen Vanmechelen, Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven

On People and Things, Z33, curators Jan Boelen and Koos Flinterman As part of Super!, Z33 organises an exhibition tour in the small houses of its Beguinage around the relationship between free and applied arts. Industrial activities provided a considerable contribution to the living costs of the Beguines. Their closed courtyards are also true examples of installation art avant-la-lettre.
