15 Artists Debut New Work

Eight years after its conception in the World Trade Center, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s (LMCC) studios continue to unveil New York’s latest and notable emerging artists every six months.

This session includes; Scott Hug, founder of K48 Magazine, creator of collages and installations that investigates pop culture and media obsession; Carter, whose layered Polaroid photography and ink drawings form mask-like portrait busts; and Monika Goetz, whose cool, clean work repurposes space with glass, mirrors, and light challenging a viewer’s visual perception.

Resident Artists June–October 2005
Chris Caccamise, Luis Cantillo, Carter, Martha Colburn, Monika Goetz, Scott Hug, Joyce Kim, Graham Parker, Kanishka Raja, Greg Smith, Austin Thomas, Jessica Watson, and writer-in-residence Alan Gilbert.

Opening Reception and After Party

Not Your Run of the Mill Tours...
Sunday, October 30, 3-4 PM
Four unconventional walking tours, departing from the artist studios. Space is limited. RSVP is required for all events.

Tour One: Peripheral City performance Tour by Red Dive Guides in orange jumpsuits entwine personal stories from people on the street with unusual historical facts and street performers.

Tour Two: Privately Owned Public Spaces with Brendan and Patrick FitzGerald Visiting well-developed sites and poorly managed spaces, the FitzGerald brothers hope to educate and inspire.

Tour Three: An Offbeat Walking Tour with Robert Jay Kaufman Is it a blur block or file block, chat block or puff block? Join Robert Jay Kaufman, author and illustrator of Blockology: An Offbeat Walking Guide to Lower Manhattan.

Tour Four: New York Times Performance Tour with Pia Lindman One-hour performance tour of select monuments in Battery Park, as part of After Effects.
