Apparitions
'When looking for a literal theme in the sequential images by G. Roland Biermann, the viewer instinctively becomes aware of diametrically opposed points of reference: figure and ground, heart and hand, light and shadow. However, the visual terminology is only a starting point for following multi-dimensional trails.
Trails of apparencies which seem to get trapped in a metaphysical spider's web: two feet ascend and disappear, yet their reflection remains visible in the water on the ground. A hand appears from behind a veil and grabs a dark heart. A knee seems to dissolve in the grain of wooden floor boards. The way 'Apparitions' continually challenges our perception of reality is equally liberating and thought-provoking.'
