The four artists in this exhibition -Gary Simmons, Charles LeDray, Robert Beck, Peggy Preheim- explore how objects and experiences of early youth, seen through the lens of memory, can express the slippage between reality and reminiscence. Their work taken together suggests the potent cultural resonance of representing memory and the formation of the self as a strategy for image-making.
