Baynard imagines arctic ice fields melting, species of birds disappearing, and the receding ground of rainforests with a circular geometric void in the center of each painting. Beautifully painted emblematic landscape that is distinctly post-American.
Re Emerging
Sara Tecchia Roma New York is proud to present our most important show to date, Ed Baynard: Re Emerging. Hailed by Joshua Mack of April 2006 issue of Modern Painters as "a break-out series," these 60 x 40 inch master watercolors "in which luminous white circles of unpainted paper pierced and obscured images" confront the viewer with major issues of immediate global concern. Baynard imagines arctic ice fields melting, species of birds disappearing, and the receding ground of rainforests with a circular geometric void in the center of each painting. Beautifully painted emblematic landscape that is distinctly post-American.
This exhibition is an enormous change from his previous work.
Ed Baynard's "Precisionist" still life paintings and printmaking have been seriously collected for more than 35 years. His art is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, The Walker Art Center, The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Tate and many others.
