Private Cinema
AP4-ART is glad to present the German artist from Koeln Franck Ahlgrimm (
1965). “Ahlgrimm work is characterized
by different figurative and textual elements, geometrical colored fields
arising from dynamic pencil strokes
where abstraction and figurative representations are not the opposites.
Like in a collage, Ahlgrimm puts together in his large scale paintings
some scattered elements
into a highly complex composition where the properties of painted texts
stands against the flashy outcome
of mass media images and advertised slogans.
His painting skills succeed in reducing smoothly all complexities and
create synthetic surfaces while
his canvasses turn into the display of a media world where the
esthetical mutation of images
by digital manipulations is questionned.
