Group show

L2kontemporary is proud to present the new exhibit derived from an exploration of a specific vein of thought from the L. A. Libertine Society entitled The Nature of Excess. Within the confines of the gallery a number of the long time members, along with some of the newer converts, will stake out five visual interpretations of carnal gluttony in relation to the word excess. In some cases it is a vision of excess that is imposed upon us by the moralistically oppressive and repressive society within which we find ourselves. In others it is an internal view of some of the heavens and hells that are created by the repression, or maybe even the liberation, of our sexual desires. Either direction, this is a summer show that is sure to titillate and subvert.

From Simone Gad's assembled visions of Hollywood's other film industry, as exemplified through her use of 1980's and 90's beefcake and cheesecake images, to Billy Reynoldssurrealistically bizarre, if not somewhat perverted, visions incorporating some of the largest icons of the cartoon world. From Edward Lightner's externalized interpretations of the internalized memories put forth from two former male prostitutes turned musical act (Massimo & Pierce of Black Sun Productions), to Matt Lippsstylized views of the archetypes found in the novel by the Marquis de Sade, 120 days of Sodom,to Ana Fernandez's snippets and windows into bedroom improprieties played out in warehouses located somewhere in North Hollywood.

The Society will also be featuring a very tasty boudoir treat from member George Dinhaupt in the backroom. . .
