The exhibition 'Extension Turn 2' provides a number of snapshots of a range of expansive situations. All of the artists' work in the show shares a strictly structural perspective. Proliferation is a mode of expansion that is visible, for instance, in the coincidental and unruly growth of minute organisms(Florian Pumhosl). Expansion is also present in the creation of modular elements that are stringed together, piled up and heaped to a neuralgic point of exhaustion (Thomas Feuerstein, Johannes Speder, Wu Yishen). Material qualities are analyzed along with the way that these affect the specific appearances of expansion.

Stretchings, distensions, swellings are possible, but also fissures, cracks and implosions (Manuel Gorkiewicz). The different forms of resistance geared towards countering expansive tendencies render the structural principles of this expansion legible (Peter Holl, Lone Haugaard Madsen, He Yunchang, Deng Aiguo), while space is thought further in a virtual context to show what would be possible if the specific spaces concerned were to actually exist (Peter Kogler, Hans Schabus, Siggi Hofer). Another phenomenon explored is the acoustic creation of space, the extension of space through sound and the positioning of new sonic barriers (Florian Hecker).
