Feeling vulnerable and uncertain in today's world.
Glass art, sculpture, photography, wrought knives, poetry, graphic design
Symbols and their cross-cultural importance has always been the motivating force in
the work of wood sculptor and now glass artist Hakan Blomgvist, especially symbols
representing love of life.
The work
of graphic-, textile- and glass artist Karin Westman reflects her feeling of being
small, vulnerable, and unsafe in a world that is filled with evil and cruelty. Color
expresses her joy and a way to find safety in a world that can be so beautiful and
at the same time so dangerous.
Pieter Berghman interprets ''under the surface'' as the underlying meaning of
unspoken words. The origin of language is expressed in a variety of materials
including cast bronze, brass, iron and wood.
Self-taught gardener, sculptor and designer Antoine Van Loocke goes ''under the
surface'' with high performance, high tech cutting knives. The blade is made partly
of high speed stellite6K (used in stealth bombers) and the handles of decorated
whalebone or meteoric stone.
Poet Martine Dere crawls under her skin to feel the vulnerability and insecurity of
living in today's world. Her texts are transformed into graphic signs by sanny
winters and tim oeyen.
