Bunker o no bunker

"Bunker o no Bunker: por una profilaxis del sujeto" is a curatorial project that will be the inaugurating event of the third edition of Designweek Monterrey dedicated this year to the theme of identity. Promoted by CEDIM, in collaboration with Ramis Barquet and produced by Regeneracio'n, it presents the work of 14 international artists from all over the world, that directly or indirectly, work around the configuration of identity, and the troubleshooting in conceiving the body and creativity, as independent dynamics to the processes of identification.

Bunker o no Bunker is about identity only in the moment in which this notion is abandoned to program improvised dynamics and strategies, but also spontaneous, precarious, but over all, autonomous to the established forms of our political, economical, social, moral and cultural contemporary configuration.

We believe we can talk about identity considering two trends: from the progressive atomization of the historic subject under hard and hierarchic forms; by the subjective lures that bunkerize the subject-individual into his private sphere, not only into the intimacy of his home, but also in the other meaning of the word private, that is to be without voice… the public-less individual in a privatized world. And second from the resignifications of subcultural communities, that there affinity is not established by a series of institutionalized objects, but by the social and political dynamics through which they redistribute their affective intensities in the differences they produce.

To talk about the first subject, lets call him individual, would only produce a series of analysis of the cultural objects through which he exists, of the identitary features through which he recognizes himself, of his bare life through which he gives his vital right to the sovereign, and of his alienated passions (that fills the archive of the modern priest) through which he gives closure to his day.

For example the artistic groups in the Mexico of the seventies, like Grupo Suma would abolish the notion of authorship and legitimating space, returning art to the streets and the individual to his community. Or photography and art from the seventies through the eighties, periods of politization and overcoming of the body, through feminists art or marginalized groups. Gender terms that have been actualized and shifted around and around by Ingrid Pei-Mun Tsang, Emily Roysdon or Elena Kovylina’s actions. And today, with the counter-affirmation of localities in these processes of globalization, that have actualized the use of political action and protest, as grammars that have affinities with the artistic production, like Petr Bystrov’s actions, former element of Radek Community; the disturbs of the extra-communitarian in Italy Armando Lulaj (Albania), or the border crossings of the Italo-Albanian Adrian Paci… The processes of community, group or multitude production (sub-representable processes1), start from the biological-affective body to the social-represented body, body-badly represented… system that finds its eco in the runaway-actions of Mario Garci'a Torres; HEY!!!’s dead concerts presented by Petr Bystrov; in the epistemic complications of Metapong; or through admonition by the production of objects, cultural types, atomic-containers, like in Rube'n Gutie'rrez, Ozmo’s google search drawings, Daniel Lara’s musical band Chambela'n, Enzo Umbaca and Oswaldo Ruiz.
