Les construction du ciel #02
In his first New York solo exhibition,
Josh Müller examines the idea of
construction/
deconstruction through installation and
photography. Similar to James Casabere,
Müller's photography creates a false
environment that exists only in his
studio.
In the series Somewhere 2000, the artist
used a combination of found-footage
and assorted images from various media
(advertising, print, photographs, etc.)
which lead to an analog photograph.
This process posed questions concerning
perception and decontextulisation of
media realities.
In his recent show in Salzburg, les
construction du ciel #01, Müller
explored the
constructed view of the "outside". Now,
in les construction du ciel #02, he
carries
the investigation to the next level
which focuses on both the constructed
image
and a model that explores the
deconstruction of his photography. For
the first
time outside of his studio, Müller
creates a three dimensional model which
allows
the viewer to be inside the situation.
It interacts as an artificial
environment for
viewing his faux images. This
architectural design of inner-space is
meant to
negate the "emotional " content of the
photographs while interacting with a
generic milieu.
Josh Müller was born in Germany but now
lives and works in Vienna, Austria.
He will be attending the ISP residency
program in New York in the fall of 2001.
