Paysage sous influence

Galer ie Patr icia Dor fmann is delighted to invite you to the opening of Er ic Corne's solo exhibition, its first par tnership with the ar tis t. " Paysage sous influence" (Lands cape under the influence), br ings together a set of 20 paintings and a video, specially produced for the exhibition. T he works of Er ic Corne represent for the most part deser ted lands capes overwhelmed by the implos ion of colours. T hey are made up of recur r ing symbols, littered with clues, - such as the bird, which is an image caught fleetingly - the facades of the buildings, through their precar ious balance, are the metaphor of the painting in which one must enter . With their intens ity, these paintings, as if caught in the spotlights of a rock concer t, reveal an exacerbated romanticism, haunted by the fear of imminent disas ter, but also by the ir repres s ible des ire to paint.

T he his tory of art inhabits and suffus es that of Er ic Corne, who likes to quote Edvard Munch - whose works he is par ticular ly fond of - and also Gérard Gas iorowski and Malcolm Mor ley. Car rying on his political and ar tis tic commitments through his travels in the Balkans, in Brazil or in Por tugal, Er ic Corne's latest paintings and video trans late his emotions about the lands capes he has come acros s, lands capes he calls "under the influence" in reference to the movies of John Cas savetes .
