Fantastically hip artists, writers, and fashion designers, are the vivid subjects of "All New Personal Style," a series of color photographs by Lyndal Walker, one of the leading young artists of Melbourne, Australia. Straightforward portraits and fictive narratives comprise this series of works, which examine the dynamics of documentary and constructed imagery and the role of individual personality in advertising, cinema, magazine publishing, and, of course, contemporary art.

Through views of...
fashion designers, Peter
Haren and Audra Cornish,
of TDM, wearing their fantastic,
sci-fi/superhero-meets-goth,
PVC outfits on the high street,
artist Callum Morton acting
out a mock convenience
store robbery getaway, and
artist/graphic designer
Holly-Anne Buck emerging
from a car with bundles of
logo-covered shopping bags,
"All New Personal Style" examines
the dynamics of image production
and consumption in contemporary
culture.
"All New Personal Style" will be
Ms. Walker's first New York solo
exhibition.
(Two earlier series, "Personal Style"
and "They're In Advertising," were
featured in a group exhibition,

New York, in 1998).
All of the works comprising
"All New Personal Style" are
included in "The Syntax Of Style,"

currently on view at the
Australian Centre Of Photography,
Sydney, which had featured
Ms. Walker's work in "Signature
Works: ACP 25th Anniversary
Exhibition" in 1999 and "New
Australiana," earlier this year.
