Gallery Joe presents new works by Mary Judge. Judge who lives and works in New York and Italy, uses the ancient Renaissance technique of "spolvero" to create works on paper, canvas and concrete block. In this her first solo show here she will present new works on linen from the "Circle Series" which move away from her trademark bilaterally symmetrical concentric forms.

Judge who lives and works in
New York and Italy, uses the ancient Renaissance technique of "spolvero" to
create works on paper, canvas and concrete block. In this her first solo
show here she will present new works on linen from the "Circle Series" which
move away from her trademark bilaterally symmetrical concentric forms.
Judge's work invokes infinity and deals with transformation through
repetition. Her labor intensive approach produces objects which seem to be
both drawing and sculpture or drawing and painting at the same time. Her
forms are sensual and materially oriented, ancient in feel and at the same
time minimal and modern.
Concurrent with this show and opening on September 14th, Judge will have a
solo exhibition at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, which will
feature pounced works on paper, handmade paper pieces from the Dieu Donne
Papermill NY, a site specific pounced sculpture of concrete block and a 24
foot long wall mural.
