Vertigo, 2005. Exhibition and performance. A social and cultural memory by constructing fleeting moments of hyper-reality where Audience, no longer a passive observer, finds itself transformed into Witness or Accomplice.
Vertigo, 2005
A clandestine location within Palma de Mallorca will be witness to Regina
José Galindo's most blistering performance yet.
Controversial artist Regina José Galindo (Guatemala 1974) is considered to
be one of the most subversive voices in her generation. Despite having
exhibited worldwide to great international acclaim - In 2005, Gaindo was
awarded the prestigious Leone de Oro, at the 51st Bienale di Venezia for
best artist under 35 - her work remains decidedly anti-establishment.
As poet and performance artist, Galindo uses her own body to enact and
denouce the themes which underlie her artistic discourse. Her work creates
social and cultural memory by constructing fleeting moments of hyper-reality
where Audience, no longer a passive observer, finds itself transformed into
Witness ... or Accomplice.
