At the End of the Day

“La vita è una cospirazione. Ci hanno insegnato che il mondo non è onesto e che dobbiamo vivere in questo modo. Siamo testimoni della nostra morte con l’illusione che non sia vero. Siamo alla fine del giorno”.

L'artista italiano Carlo Gori arriva in Giappone per la prima volta. Porta il suo progetto artistico in work in progress iniziato sei mesi fa presso la Westbury Farm Studios in Milton Keynes, Regno Unito, riguardo il tema centrale della sua arte: l’amore per l’umanità.

At the End of the Day prende a prestito un tipico modo di dire inglese (traducibile con “in conclusione”) e centra le sue attenzioni sulle sue personali esperienze e le scelte che l’umanità fa: violenza, guerra, perversione della verità, la spazzatura dentro di noi. Questo spiega l’uso dell’immondizia nel suo lavoro - gli imballaggi in cui noi e tutte le cose sono avvolte.

Lo stile di Carlo segue il paradosso della vita stessa - dalla serenità dell’ingenuità, con il nero che gioca nello spazio bianco, fino al caos della violenza.

La violenza di colori acidi gettati sulla tela, come sangue sudicio di una ferita spalancata, gocciola giù al suolo. La pura energia delle unghie graffia via le trame, mentre l’acqua dissolve e le mani nude imbrattano.

Usa tanto nero. Devi cercare le sue forme introspettive definendole con la convenzione del loro contrasto, lo spazio bianco. “Amo l’imperfezione, come i difetti di un essere umano, con la sua straordinaria possibilità di diversità. Variazioni sul tema: identità personale, personalità plurali, desiderando alla fine essere tutti uguali. Con la necessità di esplorare e di toglierci le pelli che ci imprigionano, per svelare l’essenza di chi realmente siamo. Insieme differenti. Siamo uno specchio che dobbiamo mandare in frantumi per andare oltre, per essere la nostra totale azione poetica”. Preview di Anoif Remah

“Life is a conspiracy. We are taught that the world is not honest and we have to live in this way. We are witness of our own death within an illusion that is not true. We are at the end of the day”.

Italian artist, Carlo Gori, arrives in Japan for the first time bringing his artistic work in progress begun 6 months ago at Westbury Farm Studios in Milton Keynes, Uk about his central theme: love for humanity.

At the End of the Day is about his own experiences and the choices humanity makes: violence, war, perversion of truth, the rubbish inside us. This is why Carlo likes to use rubbish in his work - the packaging that we and so many things are wrapped in.

Gori’s style follows the paradox of life itself - from the serenity of naïvety, defined simply by black within white space to the chaos of violence. The violence of acid colours thrown onto the canvas like blood oozing from an open wound, dripping wet to the floor. The raw energy of fingernails that scratch texture, where water dissolves and bare hands smear.

He likes to use a lot of black. You have to search for the introspective figures conventionally defined by its contrast, white space. “I like the imperfection, like the flaws of a human being, with the extraordinary possibility of diversity. Variations on a theme – personalities, identity but we long to be the same. The need to explore and peel away the layers that imprison us, to reveal the essence of who we really are.
