The Center of Cosmic Energy

What is cosmic energy and how can we tap into it? How are cosmic energy and individual creativity related? Will exposure to cosmic energy enhance your consciousness and personal creativity?

Renowned Russian émigré artists Ilya and Emilia Kabakov invite you to contemplate the amazing powers of cosmic energy, the original renewable resource, at The Center of Cosmic Energy, September 6 through November 11 on Tufts University’s Medford campus. The artists comment: "By visiting this special place, you become part of a grand scientific experiment to determine if the energy of the cosmos can be harnessed, directed, and preserved. As you contemplate the history and meaning of the Center of Cosmic Energy, you may feel a proximity to the Cosmos you have never experienced before." As a visitor to the Center, you will learn about the Intuition of the Throne, the Intuition of Sixty Degrees, The Intuition of Close Energy, and the “eternally alive archive” called the Noosphere.

A brief history of The Center explains how it came into existence in Medford, MA. During the construction of a ventilation complex in Medford in 1961, at the location now occupied by the Aidekman Arts Center, some ancient cave drawings were discovered underneath the complex that were only properly excavated in 1991, after the complex was closed. Further discoveries have been unearthed and theories offered as to the meaning of the drawings and archaeological findings. To verify one such theory, the Kabakovs proposed that the industrial complex be retrofitted into a modern research facility called The Communication with the Cosmos Building. This building, just one part of The Center of Cosmic Energy, is considered its designers to be a “monumental experiment” to investigate how the energy of the cosmos can be received and processed so that mastery over it will lead to "the emergence of new and unlimited possibilities for Mankind."

You are invited to tour the Center and engage in the Kabakovs’ pursuit of how to make the world a better place. This journey to a better future takes approximately 20 minutes. Are you ready to receive?

Opening Reception: Thursday, September 6, 5:30–8:30 pm
