Argentinean icons
Having moved to Argentina from Germany as a young girl, she became an autodidact,
she studied photography with well-known professionals in different photographic
studios. In 1930, she set up her first studio in Buenos Aires. She is best known for
her dramatic portraits of figures from Argentine film and theater and from famous
writers, dancers and other celebritiues in the art and cultural world. Her very own
personal style led her to be the cover photographer of the most prestigious movie
and culture magazines, for over forty years.
She received international awards for her contributions to the visual arts, and her
work has been exhibited in Latin America and Europe. Her last retrospective exhibition "Annemarie Heinrich. Un cuerpo, una luz, un reflejo" was held at the Recoltta Cultural Center's Cronopios Gallery in the city of
Buenos Aires in October 2004. She created many of the images which remain in the collective memory.
