SEPTEMBER 15TH 2007 – DECEMBER 31ST 2008
TEMPORARY EXHIBITION SPACE OF THE GALLERY OF MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE

SKIN, BETWEEN TEXTURE AND STRUCTURE
The envelope of a building has always represented a stake for architects and their commissioners. The ultimate icon, it enables to adhere to one’s era, to distinguish oneself from the surrounding environment or to better become part of it. The exhibition, designed by the architects Hamonic+Masson, presents fourteen projects recently completed or in progress in France. Since the theme of skin has already been the focal point of French productions in the past, reference drawings stemming from the archives of the Cité are displayed alongside; screens recollect the noteworthy realisations of the international recent events
in the field.
With this presentation running for a year and a half, the Cité is launching the programme of its temporary exhibition space within the new gallery of modern and contemporary architecture.
Exhibition opened in the framework of the opening of the Cité

WHAT ARE YOU DOING? THE TOWER INTO PLAY, FROM BABEL TO THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING
Since their invention during the Age of Enlightenment, construction sets have turned out to be a fantastic introduction to architecture. The Cité de l’architecture & du patrimoine has therefore decided to pay tribute to them by inviting the most famous manufacturers to come and display emblematic small-scale towers from all over the world.
Once they have become acquainted with the towers of Babel, Pisa, Tower Bridge, the Sagrada familia... the children will be invited to build their own tower, by following assembling instructions or their own imagination...
Exhibition launched in the framework of the opening of the Cité – Opened on Monday, Thursday, Friday from 13.30 to 17.OO, Wednesday and Saturday from 14.00 to 18.00, Sunday from 11.00 to 18.30

MISS B.’S VILLA

On the pretext of designing a villa for one Miss B., who is none other than the Barbie doll, the exhibition offers a reflection on the "trends" of the ideal house in answer to the evolution of our lifestyles. The Cité has requested nine French female architects (Sophie Delhay, Dominique Jakob, Anne-Françoise Jumeau, Isabel Hérault, Karin Herman, Raphaëlle Hondelatte, Gaëlle Hamonic, Florence Lipsky, Fiona Meadows and Emmanuelle Marin-Trottin) to create collectively a 1/6th scale contemporary house, from the combined portions created by each of them.
The exhibition also appeals to other disciplines such as fashion, with a ready-to-wear collection designed especially for the Barbie doll, or cooking.
