“I try to understand how other cultures, specifically agrarian ones, relate to nature. My
creative work investigates the ways in which we are being trained to see today by mass
media. I emphasize time and speed in our natural world by re-emphasizing it in my
videos, slowing elements down and playing with perceptions. Subtle events occur
throughout the pieces, which speak to mass media ideologies and techniques. I hope to
return us to an innocence of seeing, during a time where we are addicted to distraction.
Over the course of my life I have become more aware that space for personal
contemplation is dwindling and we are losing land, as well as our patience to address
nature.
Because mass media culture has infiltrated almost every aspect of our lives our attention
span has evolved in such a way that it does not allow us the time or the patience to
address nature.
