A solo exhibition that offers an overview of his most important icons such as Protest Fashion / Awareness Muscle / Television works / Google and Myspace as art in public space. The exhibition also displays a recruiting centre of artists that can point out disfunctions faster than their shadow.
Galerie Asbæk is presenting French-born artist Thierry Geoffroy (b. 1961) a.k.a. COLONEL in a solo exhibition that offers an overview of his most important icons such as Protest Fashion / Awareness Muscle / Television works / Google and Myspace as art in public space.
The exhibition will also display a recruiting centre where Geoffroy will be casting artists that can point out disfunctions faster than their shadow.
2007 has been a busy year for Thierry Geoffroy who is based in Copenhagen. He presented major successful solo exhibitions at P.S.1 MoMA, New York / The Venice Biennale, Venice / Ileana Tounta Contemporary Art Centre, Athens / Blackwood Gallery, Toronto. He has in fact developed 2 essential art formats together with international teams of artists: "Emergency Room" and "The Biennalist".
Emergency Room is a constantly evolving collaborative exhibition format that seeks to foster a sense of artistic community. It provides a physical space in which the participating artists can display works made as a response to events of the last 24 hours. Whereas the Biennalist is a commenting format that investigates and debates the concepts of major international art events like The Venice Biennale. Geoffroy conducts teams of Biennalists working in the field with interventions and activities.
Thierry Geoffroy has presented his art internationally since 1995 and done projects in a wide range of medias. To him a private gallery is just another media or channel of communication.
Galerie Asbæk was founded in 1975 and has represented several generations of Danish and international artists. Thierry Geoffroy is now becoming a part of that history. After several successful exhibitions abroad he is back in Copenhagen contemplating on his most remarkable iconic achievements.
