Thaw is an international festival of video, film and digital and sound media that showcases new work by emerging media artists. The next festival will take place April 10-13, 2002, in Iowa City. Thaw is open to all artists who challenge the conventional standards of video, film, digital or sound media. Deadline: Postmark January 8, 2002.

Thaw seeks international, local, student, non-professional and professional
entries.
Thaw is an international festival of video, film and digital and sound
media that showcases new work by emerging media artists. The next festival
will take place April 10-13, 2002, in Iowa City, Iowa. Thaw is open to all
artists who challenge the conventional standards of video, film, digital or
sound media.
The winners of the best of festival cash prizes will be determined by this
year's panel of distinguished media artists: Ximena Cuevas, Stephanie Gray
and Greta Snider.
Work must have been completed after January 1, 1999.

FILMMAKERS: Please send your preview/pre-screening copy on VHS. Filmmakers
who are selected will be required to send a 16mm print at least one week
before the festival.
VIDEOMAKERS: Videomakers who are selected do not need to send a screening
copy of their work, those working in digital who would like their work to
be screened in that format will need to submit a digital video tape one
week before the festival.

Agreement:
By signing this form, the artists agrees that the submitted work
will be made available in its original form for the festival in April 2002.
Thaw has permission to exhibit the work in spin-off projects that may
result, such as a compilation reel to be broadcast on a local public access
channel. Thaw may make use of moving images for our website and reproduce
stills for festival promotion. Every reasonable precaution will be taken in
handling entries. However, neither the festival nor its organizers,
sponsors, or participating organizations are responsible for any loss or
damage of submissions.
