Aspects of View. Comprised of three interrelated bodies of painting, Histories, Interiors, and Observations, Schuman uses a macro to micro view to describe and comment on our complex relationship to life and our surroundings. The artist uses personal iconography and a deeply poetic conceptual approach to representation. The effect is to view both the deeply personal and the profoundly universal. This is an exhibition of flora, fauna, and edgy interiors, both human and architectural; a kaleidoscoping reality punctuated by deep breaths of quiet beauty.
Aspects of View
Forum Gallery, New York, proudly
announces the opening of Wade
Schuman: Aspects of View from
This
is the young artist’s second exhibition at
Forum and presents a stunning collective of
recent work.
Comprised of three interrelated bodies of
painting, Histories, Interiors, and
Observations, Schuman uses a macro to
micro view to describe and comment on
our complex relationship to life and our
surroundings.
The artist uses personal
iconography and a deeply poetic conceptual
approach to representation. The effect is to
view both the deeply personal and the
profoundly universal.
Histories includes a large-scale triptych
completed over five years, representing a
partially autobiographical 'account of
growth' for the artist.
Three exteriors of
extremes; a hot, dark, suburban night, a
snowy, Manhattan street, and an aerial view
of a rower in the sea.
Interiors, a series of paintings using
unusual perspectives to depict varied
emotional transitions. Animals and figures
mirror one and other in mysterious ways,
'unearthing narrative out of the mundane.'
Observations, objects and organisms
observed from above; the artist finds
grandeur, drama and pathos in humble
subjects.
In all, this is an exhibition of flora, fauna,
and edgy interiors, both human and
architectural; a kaleidoscoping reality
punctuated by deep breaths of quiet beauty.
