We are delighted to announce the new exhibition of Lois Renner at our gallery space in Berlin.
Lois Renner, born in 1961, living in Vienna, has for years been undergoing intense research on the field of an expanding painting-terminology. The questions of his generation regarding the possibilities and limitations of this media, of the "last image“, he answers with a precise "Research of form“ their outcome paradoxically being large-format photographies.
He discusses the studio as spatial situation and as starting and crystallization point of artistic action and begins his analysis with it’s miniature reproduction.
His original and complex method enables him to join and rearrange everything which constitutes painting formally and materialistically and also to reflect the production, the reception and the presentation of today’s art critically.
Currently works by Lois Renner are also shown at the Museum Villa Stuck in
Munich, at the Museum auf Abruf in Vienna, at the RLB Kunstbrücke in
Innsbruck, and at the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin.
The Exhibition "Adolph Menzel und Lois Renner: The Atelierwall" opens on the
8th of August 2008, in the Hamburger Kunsthalle. "The Atelierwall" presents
multiple of old as well as new works in confrontation with works from Adolph
von Menzel. The Exhibition at the Hamburger Kunsthalle will show till the 2nd
of November 2008.
