"The main pillars on which my work lay are the interrelation and transformation of objects" (M. Magem). To paint the inhabitants of Arles represented for Raspini a very different way of approaching painting today. Drawing his inspirations from religions and cultures of various origins, Teddy B. represents in his human-scale paintings, the sufferings still endured today by homosexuals.

Magem

The main pillars on which my work lay are the interrelation and transformation of objects. I create a weightless, isolated, oneiric world. The unconscious world appears through the objects, which remain isolated, as survivors and at the same time, witnesses of the passing of time. The objects are the image of our pleasures, frustrations and desires. They have been transformed, cut, related and photographed to survive in a different world than the one in which they belonged. They were found and transformed in terms of a human unconscious which uses and isolates them from real time. The skin of the objects, or actually our skin, the skin of our life, the skin of our mind, the skin of our unconscious, the only skin of our finiteness which will perhaps last.

Raspini

To paint the inhabitants of Arles represented for Raspini a very different way of approaching painting today. Here is a painting which speaks to us about naturalness, of the search for the beautiful, and the pleasure to be and live. An interpretation which can mix abstraction and realism, without complicated intellectual speeches, open to all and which only brings to light these authentic values that know how to cross time. We understand easily that this artist wishes to honour these women who, in Provence and Camargue, perpetuate from generation to generation the tradition of the suit of the Inhabitants of Arles. She also invites us to serenely turn the pages of our zapping society by considering, without taboo, the positive forces of our cultural roots.

Teddy.B

These paintings are part of the “Icons” collection realized by the artist Teddy B. from Reunion Island. Drawing his inspirations from religions and cultures of various origins, he represents and denounces in his human-scale paintings, the sufferings still endured today by homosexuals in most countries of the world. Teddy B. sanctifies gay victims, adorning them with gold and precious essences, making them then surpass their martyr’s status; such as “Icons”…
