Korean Internation Art Fair. On show 218 leading galleries (116 local and 102 foreign) from 20 territories that will introduce the highlights of modern art done by the great masters as well as contemporary art actively unfolding at home and abroad. Switzerland has been appointed as the guest country for this 7th edition of the event.
KIAF, a project organized by the Gallery Association of Korea and inaugurated in 2002, has earned a
reputation as one of the most prominent and exciting art fair destinations, not only in Asia, but worldwide.
The 6th edition of KIAF2007 was a great success with some 64,000 art lovers attending both home and
abroad, as well as an increased number of participating galleries amounting to 208 (116 local and 92
foreign) from 18 territories.
By actively organizing guest country programs, artist discovery programs, and academic programs, in
addition to providing an art market for the trading of artworks for collectors, KIAF2007 also played the
role of an art festival, where art collectors, artists, art professionals, and art aficionados alike could
rendezvous and closely exchange ideas.
This year, the 7th annual KIAF2008 will move its exhibition dates to September 19th-23rd. At KIAF2008,
218 leading galleries (116 local and 102 foreign) from 20 territories will introduce the highlights of
modern art done by the great masters as well as contemporary art actively unfolding at home and
abroad.
Switzerland has been appointed as the guest country for KIAF2008 and prominent Swiss galleries, acting
as guest country galleries, will participate in KIAF2008. Both KIAF and AGS (Art Galleries Switzerland) will
closely collaborate to organize a Swiss Artist Show and other guest country programs, which are
expected to be a platform on which to present Swiss culture and art in Korea. In addition, through copromotion
with the Busan Biennale, KIAF2008, embracing regional art and culture, will solidify its goal
once again of joining the ranks of the truly prestigious international art fairs of the world.
