Fifth edition. The Fair showcases under six year-old commercial and non-commercial arts organisations. Exhibitors include galleries, project spaces, artist collectives, curatorial groups and publications. In addition onsite exhibitions include solo shows of last year's Champagne Perrier-Jouet Prize winner, Karla Black and John Jones Award winner, Elad Lassry, a site-specific group show of works in vinyl responding to the architecture of the building, Los Vinilos as well as a programme of Film and Video and a series of Performances.
The fifth Zoo Art Fair will be held from 17-20 October at Royal Academy
of Arts, 6 Burlington Gardens, in central London. One of the foremost
international platforms for emerging contemporary art talent, the Fair
showcases under six year-old commercial and non-commercial arts
organisations. Exhibitors include galleries, project spaces, artist collectives,
curatorial groups and publications.
With over 350 submissions from 36 countries, the application process is
heavily over-subscribed and has received more interest from international
arts organisations than ever before. Up to 60 exhibitors will be chosen by a
new panel of respected arts professionals who bring their critical, curatorial
and market expertise to the selection process.
Exhibitors will once again include galleries, project spaces, artist collectives,
curatorial groups and publications under 6 years old, offering one of the best
insights into emerging art from around the world.

been selected by a panel of prestigious art professionals made up of critic
and writer Louisa Buck, South London Gallery Director Margot Heller, and
independent curator and writer Andrew Renton.

Performance
CollectingLiveArt has curated a series of performances and live works programmed
throughout the five days of Zoo Art Fair. The works will play out in a range of ways from
intervening with the structure of the Fair itself, to events situated in time.

Karin Kihlberg & Reuben Henry, Auction #1, variable duration, 2008
Re-inventing the auction as the work and sales mechanism, the audience is invited to bid
for ownership of the auction itself whilst also casting themselves within it.

Doug Fishbone, Slide-Show Performance, duration approx 17 mins, 2008
Fishbone will be performing one of his celebrated comic slide-show lectures, taking his
audience on a journey through his mildly warped imagination, with a special nostalgic look
at the Cold War, and his childhood growing up in New York City.
18th October - Intermittently during the day and throughout the building
Giorgio Sadotti, Violin Siren, performance, variable duration, 2005-ongoing
Violinists are asked to write a score emulating the sound of the local emergency vehicle
siren. The violinists play their scores live whilst moving around the Fair as quickly as possible.

Interns working at the Fair have been asked to whistle a socialist workers’ song when per-
forming routine tasks during the installation, public hours and de-installation of the Fair.

Reza Aramesh, Action No. 60, durational intervention, 2008
In response to the social and historic meaning of the building, and to the Fair and its artistic
and financial meaning, Reza Aramesh will infiltrate the space with a military symbol of power
and protection.
