Abstract expressionist painter Clyfford Still "never wanted color to be color. I never wanted texture to be texture, or images to become shapes. I wanted them all to fuse into a living spirit." This exhibition, an installation of all thirty-three works from the Albright-Knox's collection, surveys Still's career from the forties through the sixties. It celebrates the ground-breaking work that Still did throughout his life, indelibly marking the future of painting in America.
This exhibition is organized by Curator Douglas Dreishpoon.
